Budget

Each year the Town Council projects its future expenditure required to deliver its services, maintain its assets and plan for the future. After carefully identifying opportunities to reduce costs and maximise income, council then demands a precept which sets the amount collected in council tax.

Below is a summary document of the precept demands made by Earby Town Council in recent years and the Budget set for the current 2025/2026 financial year.

63% of households in Earby are eligible to pay Council Tax with the amount varying by household according to the Council Tax Band assigned to the premises by the Borough Council. As a reference point, the amount of tax paid for a band D household in 2025/2026 was £109.25 per year to the Town Council.

The Town Council has continued to deliver its services with a zero percentage increase in the precept demand for the fourth year, further reducing it by 10% in 2022/23. This has been achieved by constantly reviewing our expenditure on energy, sub contracted services and voluntary maintenance contracts. The council has recently introduced its own highly competent and skilled maintenance capacity and has also sought to employ local services and small businesses where possible. In doing so, the Town Council is delivering more for less, with visible improvements resulting in positive feedback from residents and visitors alike.
